In my article Less Or More, I talk about why our desire for more stuff is bad for the planet and adds a lot of stress to your life. The crazy thing about all that striving for more success so that you can make more money, so you can buy more stuff stems from lots and lots of brainwashing that goes on all the time, everywhere you look.

Yes, wanting more, never being satisfied, getting into debt, and working your ass off at a job you don’t like because it makes more money that that thing you would rather be doing, is not the pathway to happiness. And don’t ever forget that this is your life, to do with as you wish, and as long as you are not doing harm, then why shouldn’t you live in such a way that allows you to be happy?

Good question, right?

Yes, but what is the answer?

Well, funny you should ask. 🙂 I read an article today, by one of my very favorite teachers, Thich Nhat Hanh. His books got me through my divorce and helped me not go crazy. What he has to say about how to achieve success is spot on. How do I know? Because over the years, as I let go of what I thought success meant, I’ve learned to make happiness a habit. As Thay says, “There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.”

Here is the article that I found on UpliftConnect.com: The Key To  Success According to Thich Nhat Hanh. If you take to heart what he has to say, I think you’ll realize that it’s a beautiful way to live.

A man once told The Buddha, “I want happiness.”

The Buddha replied, “First remove ‘I,’ that’s ego. Then remove ‘want,’ that’s desire. Now you are left with only happiness.”
