C or D: Which Is Right For You?

It’s one or the other, but can’t be both. Sounds like a riddle, doesn’t it? The CorD Way is a filter for how to live your life. At the heart of this new way of being in the world is Self-Determination. That means learning to think for yourself, rather than allowing a lifetime of brainwashing to control your thoughts and actions. Here’s a visual that might help.

Say you have a big pile of dirt with various sizes of rocks in it. You want to build a project and only need the biggest rocks. So you find a filter with holes in it that are big enough to get rid of everything but the rocks you want. That’s a filter that gives you only what you desire.

Every day you are bombarded with messages; from family, teachers, TV, radio, internet, magazines and the news. All that information is like that pile of dirt. How do you filter out what you don’t need or what isn’t good for the kind of life you want to live? That’s how the CorD Way can help you.

Connection not Division

Quixplanation: The down and dirty explanation of a concept or idea.

C stands for Connection, Compassion, and Caring. D stand for Division and Discord. With everything you do, you can look at it and determine whether it will bring things together, enhancing compassion and caring, or divide them, creating separation and discord. The world needs connection, not divisiveness. History is replete with the damage that has done.

When you begin to choose connection consciously, with each choice you will become an instrument for healing the planet. In your daily life, start asking yourself, “Do I want C or D?” Read the Us/Us or Us/Them article to learn the horrific consequences of division.

What can you do to create connections everywhere you go so you help make the world a better place? There are many examples of how one person can make a difference. Check Be Inspired to watch more videos, but right now, watch this video and see how simple it is to share your heart with others. And in a way, it’s a bit selfish because you’ll feel good every time you lend a hand. Then, if you’re still interested in learning more about the CorD Way, keep reading below.

BTW, empathy and compassion are not the same thing. Empathy is trying to understanding how someone feels. Often, you can feel empathy because you’ve gone through the same or a similar experience. You can offer sincere condolences, but it is a passive response to someone’s suffering.

When you feel compassion you have the same emotions as with empathy, but when you feel compassion you are compelled to take action. If someone has suffered a loss, you don’t just say you’re sorry, you reach out and give them physical reassurance that you understand. Or you offer assistance in some fashion. You offer to take them to work if their car broke down, or you pay for groceries if they aren’t able to feed their child.

So now you know why I chose compassion as part of what Connection means. Not only can you feel compassion for what other people are going through, you can feel compassion for a forest that has been cut down, for a river that has been polluted, bee colonies that are dying off, elephants slaughtered for their ivory, or rhinoceros killed for his horn because some man in China thinks it will help him ‘get it up.’

It’s the sense of compassion that causes you to take some kind of action to help alleviate the suffering. Take no action, you’re simply being empathetic.

Now For a Deeper Understanding

That was the quixplination. The various sources of your learning that I mentioned above has formed the way you think about everything you see and hear. You make judgments and choices every day, all day, using all that information.

But how much of that is consciously selected? From the day you were born, your family, school, and religion began the creation of your filters. When you read Are You Brainwashed, you’ll know that many of your choices, and even your thoughts, are not your own. They were slipped into your brain without you realizing it. Kind of a scary thought, isn’t it? But that’s why EverEvolving.com is here, to help you undo the brainwashing. Using critical thinking, you can filter out everything but what you determined is useful to you.

Most of the brainwashing you’ve received is designed to take away your self-determination and your capacity for critical thinking. Those who want you brainwashed want you docile. They don’t want you to think for yourself, to question, or to make waves. The CorD Way will empower you to think for yourself. With practice, you will get better and better at making your own choices without the external influences that have controlled you all your life.

Connection Is the Heart Of The CorD Way

Connection, at least in this context, is about the various ways that encourage you to have positive interactions with others and with the world around you. It also means how you interact with yourself. Part of connection is compassion, caring, loving, wanting to uplift and to create humanhood (I prefer that to brotherhood).

If you sit down and ponder what this planet means unto itself, to all life forms, and to yourself, please think about this: The Earth is your home, your only home. Since you’re not moving to another planet anytime soon, this earth is also your future home and the home of your future children and grandchildren. To top it off, you share this home with all the other life forms, who, just like you, depend on it for their survival.

Too often, people think that their home, their community, maybe their state is what matters. But trust me, until you have traveled to other parts of the world, you will keep that limited perspective. A limited perspective is fodder for narrow-mindedness, which is the Petri dish for bigotry and hate.

When you have visited Africa and seen elephants, giraffes, lions, and hyenas in their natural habitat, you begin to see the world as a whole, no longer limited to the small part in which you grew up. When you visit other cultures and get to know the people of the world, you will see that beneath the beliefs, and the pigment of their skin is someone just like you, who wants to love and be loved, to care for their family, and enjoy life.

When you feel caring and Compassion for any living thing, you automatically build a Connection.

Another way to think of Connection is a sense of oneness. You can develop oneness as you would any skill, with practice. Oneness can be experienced with yourself, an individual, God, the stars, anything you care about. Once you can feel a oneness with all life forms, you have become an ambassador for the entire planet.

Compassion Will Heal the World

What Does Division Mean?

Now let’s look at Division. I tend to look at human nature from the perspective of the hunters and gatherers. They lived in small groups in search of food and shelter. The tendency to not trust another group is natural. It makes sense. But now, we have the ability to rise above and evolve out of that narrow thinking. There is no reason to distrust someone simply because they are different.

Anything that causes divisive thinking keeps us stuck in a world filled with wars, a willingness to destroy parts of the planet and to kill off life forms that are in the way of profits.

Bigotry and racism are always divisive. Religion is usually divisive. Read the article, Instead Of Religion, to understand why this is. Being rich or poor causes a horrible division between people. Watch this video and see how a little girl with a disability brings out divisive behavior, and how Compassion creates one of the strongest brother-sister Connections I’ve ever seen.

Compassion Feels Good

Every day, you get to make choices. The more conscious you become of whether your choices are creating Connection or Division, the more self-determination you will have, and the less the Brain Washing Machine will control your mind.

Right now in the world, the term terrorist is being tossed about, which has been creating horrible division among the people of the world. You will learn that it is a brainwashing ploy to go to war without declaring war and to get the public to be afraid, thus creating a docile willingness to accept the travesty that goes along with bombing the crap out of innocent people.

If you want a better world and a better future, you’ll soon discover how easy it is to find ways to enhance your Compassion. It doesn’t matter who or what is the recipient of your willingness to make a Connection, what matters is that each time you do it, you are becoming a better, more evolved person. You will also be helping the world heal from the destruction of eons of Division.
