Scientific Method Is Where It’s At
The problems in today’s world, whether it is the damage to the environment, and the struggles of society, is because of a series of lies, misunderstandings, or outdated modes of thinking. Society has accepted all of that without looking at why they believe, why things are the way they are, and how they might be different.
Critical thinking is not encouraged in school, except in the sciences. Instead, brainwashing teaches that school means accepting what the books and instructors say but never questioning.
The CorD Method asks you to question, to think for yourself, and make choices from the perspective of Connection, Compassion, and Caring. That works for your day-to-day choices and decisions. But the scientific method is what will move us out of the current mode of thinking, into a world of global sustainability, where the population of the world has clean water, healthy and abundant food, and encouraged to live with dignity.
So why science?
Science deals with facts. It deals with what’s real. It questions, learns, and is willing to accept that what was believed to be true yesterday, has today been proven to be wrong, or different than was previously understood.
Religion, politics, and societal organization are counter to science. It discourages question and demands acceptance from the higher authority. The reason the world is in such trouble today is because those in positions of power have brainwashed people into submission. Religion and politics have been tightly intertwined for eons and the way society has been organized stems from there.
Why Should You Care About the Scientific Method?
The reason science is so important to our future is because it does not allow brainwashing to enter into it. This is how the scientific method works:
- As a question, something like: What if….?
- Do research
- Construct a hypothesis (Hypothesis: A proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation)
- Test with experimentation
- Does data align with hypothesis
- Check all steps in experimentation
- Determine if the results prove the hypothesis true, partially true, or false
- Communicate with scientific community what has been learned
Is this how religion, politics, or economics works? No. The world we live in is a series of band aids applied as solutions. They have only addressed the surface issues, not the deeper truths of what society needs to support the planet and the 7.5 billion inhabitants of the world.
The scientific method does not allow for faith or brainwashing. It deals with facts. One of the most significant aspects of science is that is is willing to see when the hypothesis was wrong. Even when the hypothesis seems correct, and the experiments say it is correct, science is always ready to acquiesce to the next advancement. At one time the atom was considered the smallest particle. But with new tools, we know now that there are much smaller particles, and that they behave in fascinating ways.
Scientific achievement has now advanced to the point that in a short time, most of today’s jobs will no longer be necessary. Robots will do them.
So where does that leave us? We are on the cusp of determining the answer to that very question. Read The Zeitgeist Movement (linked below to download for free) and open your mind to a new world of possibilities. It is only because of science, and the level of today’s technology that has come through science, that we can now solve most of the world’s problems, and at the same time, live a much more satisfying life.
