Help Build the Tidal Wave

No, it’s not a typo, and it’s not a secret code. But it does have a double meaning. YOU, of course, is built into youth, but will is the word that has the double meaning. One meaning is that you ‘will do something,’ the other is, do you have ‘the will’ to follow through?

If you’ve been poking around EE, you’ve figured out that it’s the youth of today that will step up and solve the world’s problems. Why? Because it appears that the people in power don’t care about what’s happening to the world, and they care even less about your future.

Yes, a lot of young people don’t concern themselves with the fact that:

  • Pollution is destroying their planet,
  • The hunger for more profits is cutting down forests (that just so happen to be an important way that oxygen is created,)
  • The extreme imbalance of wealth creates poverty and starvation,
  • Species are going extinct at an alarming rate.

It’s not completely their fault because they’ve been brainwashed quite effectively.

But there are plenty of young people who are stepping up in a big way. Some are using their voice to speak about how the planet is in trouble. Others are developing new ideas for solving some of the world’s problems, like renewable energy sources. Videos below.

Why do I think it will be the youth of today that will step up and become Vanguards for solving the world’s problems? Because they will begin to go out into the world and find it difficult to get jobs that are satisfying and invigorating. Because, when they get married and have children, they will worry about their health and education. And because they will begin to care about what kind of world they will leave their children.

The tidal wave will be in the form of the world getting worse, or better. I’m voting for enough people pitching in to help so the earth becomes the magical haven it can be.

Helping the Planet In Big and Little Ways

Which Side Do You Choose?

You know there are a lot of young people who care only about taking selfies and finding out about the next reality show. They are not the ones I’m talking about. The fact that you are even on this website says you are exceptional. You are someone who is curious, cares about what’s going on in the world beyond your smartphone, and who maybe, just maybe has a spark to do something that will make a difference.

The good and bad of what’s going wrong with the world is that there is a great big, long list of problems. How can that possibly be good, you ask. Well, it’s not really good, but having a long list means you can find at least one thing that will interest you.

Whatever you decide to do, it doesn’t have to be big. It can be something you do around your neighborhood. Like the guy who started mowing the lawns for elderly people. Or it can be big, like that girl who is not only building tiny houses for homeless, she’s also growing vegetables to help feed them. Videos below.

Maybe the easy way to start is to look for ways to do random acts of kindness. I have a bunch of videos about that on the Recommended Videos page. What you get when you do that is what my Spanish teacher calls Happy Hour. You get two or more benefits for one. In this case, you make someone else feel good by helping them or lightening their burden, and you get to feel good for having done so. Happy hour!

Now You’ve Got a Problem

Since you’ve read this far, you have a personal dilemma. You have become aware that you could start doing something to help heal the planet, in small or large ways. But if you choose to go back to your selfies and reality TV, you’ve made that choice. I’ll admit I knew anyone who read this short page would end up with that problem. Sneaky, I know, but I’m hoping that you have fallen for my sneakiness and will begin to look for ways to help others, help heal the planet, or both.

You can go to Be Inspired and see what others are doing, but first, I recommend you go to the Start Here page and follow those links, so you have a good understanding of how simple it is just to begin.

More than anything else I’ve found, The Zeitgeist Movement Defined, Realizing a New Train of Thought, gives me more hope that a beautiful future is possible for all. Not right away, though.
